Let’s jump into our conversation with John!

Describe your biggest win at CSS PSG.

Since joining the team, my biggest achievement has been a recent cold call that resulted in a significant closed sale! I want to thank Aly Reinhart and the recruitment team for their tremendous support. The client expressed great satisfaction with our services at CSS and has given me verbal commitment to use us again next year. Proof that cold calling still works!

Describe a difficult situation you’ve been in with a job seeker (challenges the job seeker was facing in their job search) and how you turned that challenge into a win.

One of my newer clients contacted me while dealing with a difficult situation. They needed to fill the last few seats in an office in Miami, and simply couldn’t do it on their own. My contact’s immediate team was initially very hesitant to work with agencies, but after numerous conversations, I was able to alleviate their concerns and build their trust in our services. We collaborated to create a Statement of Work, and within a week, we successfully filled two out of the three positions they had struggled to fill on their own for several months. After experiencing the value we provided, they gained confidence in our partnership, and we are currently continuing to work on orders for them.

In what areas have you grown the most professionally at CSS PSG and how have you seen CSS PSG grow as a whole during your time here?

In the last two years, I’ve really grown, especially in my professional development. I’ve worked on my communication with clients and coworkers, learning to hold clients accountable in a friendly way. Many of my clients have become friends, which I think really helps drive repeat business. By building these personal and professional relationships, I’ve gained a better understanding of the industry and built my credibility as an Account Executive.

What’s a tactic you use to unwind and recalibrate in the middle of the day to refocus and lock into your afternoon?

My wife is an ICU Nurse, so on the days she doesn’t work we like to go for long walk in the park we live next to during my quiet hour. It really helps break up my day and lets me kind of “restart” going into the afternoon. If she is working, I will try to go for a run. But I really hate running, so it takes a ton of self-convincing. I am a ridiculously slow runner. And everything hurts all of a sudden! I miss being a kid.

What’s a go-to tool (scheduling, writing, organizing, media, etc.) that makes your life easier from day to day?

I love to add my clients on Microsoft teams if they use it. That way I can communicate with them freely, see when they are online, and subtly hold them accountable on giving feedback.

What culturally stands out about the CSS PSG team that breeds success?

I really think we all just like hanging out with each other. Which makes coming to work every day enjoyable. Everyone I work with is a friend of mine and I mean that. I am excited to move home and be with everyone in person more often!

If you could open up a CSS headquarters anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Hawaii. I wouldn’t mind a free surf trip once a quarter 😉 Oh, oh – and I hear the staffing market is booming over there…….

A quote to live by and why it matters to you

“Listen more, speak less.” – This isn’t a quote from anyone famous, it is from my dad. He used to say this to me repeatedly growing up.  Hard to believe right? This matters to me because this has been a focus of mine all year personally and professionally. I will even sometimes draw a tiny ear on my hand as a reminder to try and be quiet. I just think this is a great practice. Wisdom doesn’t come from talking, it comes from listening.

What is something you do outside of work that truly re-energizes you?

Hunting, fishing, surfing, – really anything where I can be outside enjoying nature and moving.

If you could feature on a song of any musical artist, who would it be and why?

“I wrote the book” by Morgan Wallen. It is a song about how he thinks he, “wrote the book” about how to do everything. But during the chorus of the song, he goes into how there’s one book he didn’t write, and it is the one “that lays by the lamp on the nightstand.” – Give it a listen and read the lyrics. I find it pretty relatable.

What’s your favorite way to say goodbye (FINAL QUESTION)?

“Alright later.”
